导语:2025年4月14日,美国律师事务所Greenberg Gross LLP在亚利桑那州提起诉讼,要求取回被抢注的域名GreenbergGrossLLP.com。
Greenberg Gross LLP, a U.S. litigation law firm, has filed an _in rem_ cybersquatting lawsuit (pdf) in Arizona to recover the domain name GreenbergGrossLLP .com. In a lawsuit filed April 8, the firm alleged that someone registered the domain name in July 2024 and used it to publish a cloned version of its legitimate website, ggtriallaw.com. The infringing site reportedly copied content nearly verbatim, including lawyer bios and other firm information, but swapped out the contact phone number and email address with ones not controlled by the firm. The registrant, identified as Diverse IP in Accra, Ghana, registered the domain through Namecheap, which is based in Phoenix. Because the registrant is located outside the U.S. and Greenberg Gross believes it cannot obtain personal jurisdiction over them, the firm filed an _in rem_ action under the Anti-Cybersquatting Consumer Protection Act (ACPA). Greenberg Gross claims the domain was registered in bad faith in an attempt to confuse the public or sell the domain to the firm for profit. It is asking the court to order Namecheap to transfer the domain. Given that the site impersonates the real law firm but uses different contact information, it’s possible the domain is or will be used for an invoicing scam. Brower Law Group, APC is representing the plaintiff in Arizona.
